The Maine Public Employees Retirement System is seeking a Managing Director, Investment Strategy and Risk.  This management position works to ensure the investment program is being run effectively and within the policies set forth by the Board, Executive Director and the Chief Investment Officer.  The position works under the direction of and prepares written recommendations to the CIO.  Duties include analysis of investment strategy and implementation, risk management and investment operations.

 

The position requires comprehensive knowledge of asset classes and economic risk factor models; considerable knowledge of purposes, principles and theories of asset management; and strong quantitative modeling skills.  A bachelor’s degree in business administration, mathematics, engineering, computer science or a related field is required, as well as a minimum of 5 years of analyst level work experience with a complex institutional or governmental investment program.  Significant experience or academic research in risk and portfolio management and familiarity with portfolio modeling and asset-liability analysis are also required.  A CFA Charterholder, CAIA Charterholder, MBA or PhD in a related field is preferred.

The Board of Trustees of Maine Public Employees Retirement System (MainePERS) is charged with reviewing staff decisions upon request in all matters affecting the rights, credits and privileges of members of the Retirement System. The Board of Trustees issues final administrative decisions in these appeals. The Board engages Hearing Officers to conduct hearings, consider argument, make findings of fact and recommend the disposition of appeals from staff determinations at the Board level.

MainePERS seeks an additional Hearing Officer who is an active member in good standing of the Maine bar and experienced in administrative law. Preferred candidates will have experience in disability or personal injury law. Hearing Officers work under contract at $100.00 per hour. Typical case loads require 15-30 hours per month.
