The Advantage of Direct Deposit
Since 2003, MainePERS has required direct deposit for all new benefit payments. Since January 2019, the requirement has applied to all recipients. Complete and return a Direct Deposit form to MainePERS to begin the process or to change the account to which your benefit is sent. Changes are usually effective the month after MainePERS receives the form. If your bank account is compromised, contact MainePERS right away and we will do what we can to help protect your benefit.
Advice of Deposit
MainePERS will mail an advice of deposit to you whenever the amount of your deposit changes by $1.00 or more, regardless of the month. We will continue to mail your year-end advice of deposit in December.
Benefit Payments Schedule
As a general rule, MainePERS issues benefit payments on the next to the last day of the month. When the next to the last day is a Saturday, Sunday, or a holiday, payments are delivered on the previous business day.
