This bill would prohibit MainePERS from investing in securities in the fossil fuel industry and require divestment of current holdings in that industry.

LD 111-An Act To Allow Career Educators To Retire without Penalty
This bill would allow teachers and school administrators with at least 35 years of creditable service to retire with full retirement benefits at any age. It also requires a retired teacher who returns to work to pay the same employee contribution rate as paid by other teachers.
LD 190-An Act To Amend the Laws Governing Retirement Benefit Reductions for Corrections Officers Currently Included in the 1998 Special Plan
This bill allows certain Department of Corrections employees covered by the 1998 Special Plan to retire at age 55 with no reduction in benefits.
LD 275-An Act to Amend the Retirement Laws Pertaining to Certain Educational Technicians
This bill clarifies that educational technicians who are not statutorily required to be certified and do not primarily introduce new learning are not teacher members of MainePERS.
LD 317-An Act to Create Equality in Retirement for Forest Rangers with That of Employees of State Conservation Law Enforcement Agencies
This bill would change the special plan by which forest rangers are covered to a plan that permits retirement after 25 years of service as a forest ranger.
LD 319-An Act to Promote Socially Responsible Investing by the Maine Public Employees Retirement System by Prohibiting Investment in the Fossil Fuel Industry
This bill would prohibit MainePERS from investing in stocks and securities in the fossil fuel industry and for-profit prisons. It also requires MainePERS to divest of current holdings in those industries.
LD 341-An Act to Address the Windfall Elimination Provision
This concept draft bill would provide a way to address the effects of the federal windfall elimination provision, which reduces social security benefits for some MainePERS benefit recipients.
LD 397-An Act to Recalculate Retirement Benefits for Certain State Employees Adversely Affected by Merit Pay Freezes
This bill would permit State employees who retired on or after May 1, 2014 and prior to June 30, 2014 to include wages lost due to merit pay freezes in a recalculation of retirement benefits.
LD 399-An Act to Clarify Retirement Benefits under the Maine Public Employees Retirement System
This concept draft bill would clarify access to certain benefits for MainePERS members, including returning to work after retirement and retiree health care benefits.
LD 509-An Act to Protect Teachers from a Decrease in Retirement Benefits Arising from the COVID-19 Pandemic
This bill allows certain teachers who experience a loss of income as a result of the elimination of extracurricular or cocurricular activities during COVID-19 to purchase lost service credit toward increasing retirement benefits.
LD 548-An Act Regarding Penalties for Early Retirement for Certain Members of the Maine Public Employees Retirement System
This bill requires a recalculation of retirement benefits based on a decreased early retirement reduction for certain state employee and teacher retirees.
LD 567-An Act to Amend the Penalty for Early Retirement for Certain Members of the Maine Public Employees Retirement System
This bill requires a recalculation of retirement benefits based on a decreased early retirement reduction for certain state employee and teacher retirees.
