Inactive Member Accounts

MainePERS has begun the work of reviewing the accounts of inactive members.  The System plans to issue refunds to members who are not vested, and have not contributed for more than three years. The System will contact these members with information about their account balances.  Generally, inactive members will have the choice to take a full refund of their account either by direct payment or by rolling the funds into another qualified retirement plan, or to leave their funds on account with MainePERS.

If you or someone you know is an inactive, non-vested member of MainePERS, you can help this effort by making sure that the System has up-to-date address information.  Click here for a direct link to the appropriate form for updating your address.

Tax Information

If funds are not directly rolled over into a qualified account, required taxes will be withheld. Click here for more details.
