any challenges you discover along the

Group Life Insurance - HOLD Please
Several items are causing errors in some
employer invoices. We will correct most
items this week, and re-post
expectations for September. We will
notify you once the new invoices are
available in ESS. Group Life
Applications for Coverage: G0001 is the
position code to use. If you've
already processed your GLI bill that is
fine. You don't need to do anything more
at this time. If you've not yet
processed your GLI bill for September,
please hold off until we notify you that
invoices are available.
Two other items needing more work are
some age based supplemental rates and
grandfathered rates. We will keep you
posted.
Employer Reporting Manual Payroll
Reporting: We are aware of a current
problem saving work in progress on
manual payrolls and hope to have a fix
in place for this soon.

include your employer code in the Import
Description. Example: P9021 September
Payroll File, or see ESS User Guide p.
50. Membership Applications for
employees with more than one Position

message.
October 14, 2011 ESS Update
More than 50 monthly payroll reports
have processed successfully in ESS as of
noon, today, and many other reports are
in process. MainePERS will not charge
interest on late payroll filings for
September's reporting period, due
October 17th. Our goal is to bring all
payroll reports in by October 31st.
The ESS system will be temporarily
unavailable from 5:00 p.m. Friday,
October 14th until 8:00 a.m. Monday,
October 17th while we make changes to
manage an expected high volume of
employer use next week.
October 13, 2011
ESS Update Employer Self Service (ESS)
is up and running and employers are
using the new system. Yesterday, more
than a dozen payroll files processed
successfully. Here are a few helpful
hints as you enter ESS for the first
time:
If you are uploading your regular
defined benefit plan report, remember to
choose the Import Name of "EPF
Contributions" in the Import Info box.
The choices of DC Contributions and GLI
Level Import are not valid names for
regular monthly payroll filings.
If you are a Security Administrator and
your password suspends or you get locked
out, contact MainePERS to be reset.
If you are not a Security Administrator
and your password suspends or you get
locked out, contact your employer's
Security Administrator to be reset.
ESS password are "case sensitive".
